Vehicle Description 1939 Ford Deluxe Tudor Sedan Ford Motor Company introduced its De Luxe Ford line in 1938 as an upscale alternative to bridge the gap between its base model, (usually called Standard), and luxury Lincoln offerings. The Deluxe name was first used starting in 1930 to specify an upscale trim starting with the Model 40-B and Model 45-B, then later the De Luxe Ford line was differentiated as a separate marque within a marque with separate styling and pricing through 1940.  For consignment, a 1939 Ford Deluxe Tudor Sedan with a title verified 29,255 actual miles. This all steel example is rocking a 350ci V8 under the hood with a 750cfm Holley four barrel on top. Exterior First, stand to the side of this pre war beauty. Take in the fantastic lines that include bulbous fenders and a dramatic sloping roofline in back and the whole big thing is hunkered down on a set of 15-inch chrome steel wheels. The Vintage Burgundy two stage coverage is very nice, and allows the side trim piece, hood trim, and of course, grille and headlight rings to really pop. Chrome bumpers at both ends also show well and twin chrome pipes out the back indicate that granddad's Ford has come a long way! Twin sport side mirrors augment the small split window out back and wide running boards are the stuff of boyhood dreams and Elliot Ness necessities. Painful as it is, it's our job to also point out flaws and the few here include a scratch that jumps the gap of the hood, some inclusions on the right door, scratch of c-pillar and left door, scuffs on fender, various other stains, scuffs and inclusions throughout, and a touch of chipping paint on fender bottom. Interior Stitched gray cloth dresses the doors along with the lower panel of some mottle colored carpet, opening up to tall bucket seats in the same, soft gray pleated cloth and along with the rear bench, present in great shape. The rear passengers are afforded a tuck away armrest and some throw pillows. A Lecarra steering wheel fronts a billet faced digital instrument cluster that lights up purple and an Alpine AM/FM/CD radio takes a center position, flanked by some more billet on a body colored dash. The shifter rises from the floor covered with a greenish carpet while the headliner is soft and gray and in nice condition. Gray also lines the trunk which houses a spare and battery box and shows some typical use. Drivetrain Our consignor states this is a crate engine and we find clean conditions under the hood where the 350ci resides. On top, an Edelbrock intake and Holley 750cfm 4-barrel carburetor. It's mated to a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission that routes power to a Ford 9 rear. Headers, power steering, and power brakes are on board and the car runs on a 12 volt system.  Undercarriage Standard and clean conditions are found with minimal surface rust and just a light film of oil on the pan and differential, all pretty typical stuff. Down here, you'll find dual exhaust trailing back from the headers to find glasspack style mufflers and finding the outside through chrome tips. Brakes are supplied as front power disc and rear power drums, and suspension includes a Mustang II front end and leaf spring in back. Drive-Ability The stalwart 350 comes to life with a blip of the gas pedal and we can clearly hear a sweet exhaust note coming from the other end. The cabin is cavernous and comfortable and the car provides good power, straight tracking, and braking on demand. It's well sorted and as such, all functions operate as intended on this street rod and it's off to find a new owner! While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.  We always think about boxes, and how many each car checks along the way. Here's one that checks all the proverbial boxes; clean inside and out, reliable engine that sounds great, functional all the way around, |
